BODYWORK

Each week we start with a 40-min Bodywork Session so that the magic starts to happen from within.

Tone & Build Lean, Long MusclesLadies, without increasing muscle size we define your body. The exercises focus on alignment and posture when performing them resulting in a toned, sexy body whilst increasing strength. Guys, it is a total body workout and a balanced body is less likely to be injured or suffer pain. (For those of you that don’t know Pilates was created by a man for men, Joseph Pilates to be exact).

Increase Core Strength and Stability – The core includes abdominals, obliques, lower back, diaphragm, pelvic floor and more. By targeting these muscle groups you learn to keep your spine in alignment ultimately preventing injury and kicking pain into touch. A strong core improves stability, reduces pressure on the back and spine, alleviating aches and pains. And if you’re after it, it can help define the six-pack.

Improve Posture – Learn to move your body with flow and grace. By improving posture you in turn improve body confidence and self esteem.

Stop the leak – Helps strengthen the pelvic floor. Sorry to say but yes, bladder leakage is the real deal and can affect men and women, but you don’t have to “pad it”.

Improve Sports Performance - Whether you run, dance, lift weights, surf, practice martial arts, snow board, play golf or do motor-cross for leisure or competitively improve your performance, enhance recovery and reduce injury.

Become More Flexible – After only 8 sessions of Pilates you will start to notice a difference in your daily movements, they become easier. Imagine what 12 weeks can do. More flexibility can improve the bedroom antics too. Your joints will also thank you later in life.

Be Pain Free – Pilates can help ease back pain, if not eliminate it altogether and if you have contact with children you’ll know what I mean, bending down picking up a child and hoisting them onto your hip can take its toll. The exercises are also beneficial for chronic pain.

FAQs

WHAT DO I DO?

Show up and on time. Simple really! This is a two way relationship one human to another. I give you 100% of me. Give yourself 100% of you.

ANY RULES?

I work on the principle treat everyone else as you wish to be treated. You’re not better than me and I’m not better than you. I will not tolerate bad behavior or shitty attitude. Neither will I tolerate foul language. Swearing is ok, I drop the ‘F’ word every now and then but beyond that it’s a no go.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANYTHING?

For the coaching an idea of what you want to cover in our time together is a good starting point. The only thing you need to be prepared for is I ask ‘why’. A LOT. It’s where we really dig deep. I never grew out of the ‘why’ phase.

WHAT IF I’M LATE?

Your time and my time is precious. If you’re late our session time WILL NOT be extended to make up for it.

If, for whatever reason I’m late, I WILL extend our session time accordingly.

CAN WE MEET?

If it’s feasible for both of us yes! I love to meet my clients in person. Whilst Zoom gives the freedom to meet when and wherever you can’t beat that in-person human connection.

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a form of exercise concentrating on strengthening the body with emphasis on core strength. Developed for men by a man - Joseph Pilates to be exact. He developed exercises as a young man to improve his own health and fitness. It eventually took his name and has been going strong for over 100 years (really short version, if you want the more in-depth version get in touch).

DO I NEED ANYTHING FOR PILATES?

You will need an exercise mat (6mm thick is ideal), a hand towel and water to stay hydrated. Please wear loose comfortable clothing you can easily move in, socks on feet unless you prefer to be barefoot.

WHAT ABOUT EQUIPMENT?

With the exception of the above you do not need anything else. I will send you a welcome bundle of Pilates equipment, yours to keep for eternity.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER?

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) can occur between 24 and 48 hours post exercise and can last as long as 72 hours.

Feeling sore after practicing Pilates is a signal your body is adapting to a new exercise system. Drinking plenty of water will help your body.

Always consult your doctor/healthcare professional before starting a new exercise program.

AS THIS PROGRAM INCORPORATES BODYWORK…

All participants are required to complete a PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) before starting exercise. Forms will be kept securely for a period of 7 years after the participant has taken their last class. There is no legal obligation to destroy this information before the 7 years are up as there is a requirement by law to keep this particular data on record for that period of time.

Data collected on this form is for your Instructor’s use only in order to provide a safe, effective exercise program & to be able to contact you should any changes arise prior to a session.

Next of kin contact details supplied will only be used should you require emergency medical assistance.
